Volunteering at the Women’s Taikai

Womens Kendo · May 14, 2010 ·

Dying to be surrounded by beautiful women that can beat you into a pulp? And outside of a Quentin Tarantino movie? With less blood?

Then you should volunteer for the Women’s Taikai! Act fast though, because believe it or not, we will actually fill up on volunteers and might actually have to turn some away. (There are more guys than gals in kendo after all.)

Which would mean you can’t go to the after party! (No slackers allowed- unless they bring something really good to eat in bulk. And no, we’re not kidding.)

Here are a list of duties we are currently seeking volunteers for:

  • After Party Chair- coordinate food/pot luck/drinks
  • Program Designer
  • Court Coordinators (x2)
  • Court Staff- ribbons, scorekeeping, brackets, timing (x8)
  • Lunch Room Team- pick up bentos, pick up drinks, set up and take down of room (x3)
  • Airport pick up/drop offs โ€“ Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Friday Night Practice pick up/drop off and return to hotel
  • Court Set up/Take Down Coordinator (x1)

Spaces are going fast….email jmarsten at comcast.net to volunteer (and if you’ve got a specific job in mind, include that in the email.)

Looking for a team or roommate?

Womens Kendo · May 5, 2010 ·

All the single ladies! (Insert Beyonce song here.)

Need a team? Need a teammate?

Rather the ladies that need to fill a spot on their team or would like to play on a team and don’t have one — never fear, our team making matching making service is available. We’ll do our best to see that you get your slot filled or that you end up on a team. You made the trip after all!

Email: womenskendotaikai at gmail.com with what you need: be on a team or fill a slot and we’ll get your hooked up.
You won’t know for sure until June 26th, it’s just how taikais roll after all, but we’ll definitely do our best!

Need a hotel roomie?

Same goes if you’re from out of town looking for a roommate to fill that other hotel bed! Email womenskendotaikai at gmail.com and if another woman requests same, then we have a match and you’ll be able to split that hotel bill right down the middle.

Women’s Kendo Taikai Tenugui are Here

Womens Kendo · May 1, 2010 ·

Check it out! The prettiest purple and oh so chic design is what all the ladies will be wearing this summer. The cool ones anyway. The ones that signed up for the Women’s Taikai on June 26th! All participants receive one of these commemorative tenugui with their participation in the women’s taikai, so sign up now! (We had to use a male model, he’s the chairman of the taikai after all.)

Need more than one? Can’t make it? Can’t participate? (Out of town, too young or suffer from being a guy?) Tenugui are for sale! Fill out the comment box or email us and we’ll get you one! $10 each. Limited supply!

Competitors get first dibs, so if you’re competing and want to order more, let us know and we’ll set them aside for you to pick up at the taikai.
